Skitch takes capturing, scribbling and sending something to someone to the next level

I heard of Skitch quite some time ago, but it took a while until I gave it a shot. Initially I thought that there isn't much upside potential in something like a screencapture utility, but certainly there is!

See what it does in this video.

Although it's seems absolutely stable to me.. It's currently in beta state and therefore freeware. So grab it while you can! Yaaahooo!

Pssst... GMail loves your bookmark toolbar...

If you're like me, then you love GMail. But what should you use to handle your Account? The neat webinterface or your beloved Mail.app?
I decided to go for the webinterface and I'm constantly looking to optimize it's integration into my workflow.

I found it quite handy to create special bookmarks to access certain functionality of my account directly from my bookmarks toolbar.

Drag one of the following links to your bookmark toolbar to customize your experience..

To access any of your custom labels, create a link that looks like this: https://mail.google.com/mail/#YOUR_LABEL

More efficient browsing with Firefox shortcuts

Firefox 3.5 is out and I'd like to share some of my favourite shortcuts that sweeten my browsing experience..

  • Command + T - New Tab
  • Command + W - Close Tab
  • Command + R - Reload
  • Command + F - Find something in Page
  • Command + K - Jump into search field
  • Command + L - Jump into address field
  • Command + B - Show/Hide Bookmarks
  • Command + "+" / "-" - Scale Webpage
  • Controll + Tab - Next Tab
  • Controll + Shift + Tab - Previous Tab

Since I'm a user of a multitouch Trackpad I love using the following too...

  • Swipe three finger right/left - History back/forth
  • Pinch with two fingers - Scale Webpage

In Firefox 3.5, there are certain gestures that need to be turned on manually. You do so by following these steps:

  1. Type about:config into the address bar and hit enter
  2. Confirm that you know what your doing
  3. Type gesture into the Filter field
  4. Notice that the twist.left/twist.right gesture is turned off
  5. Double click one of them and enter Browser:PrevTab or Browser:NextTab
  6. Congratulations! You're done!

In addition, I found it quite handy to change the value of twist.latch to true. Rather than switching continuously through your tabs with one gesture, it limits the number of tabs your "twisting through" to one per gesture.
